Class Q, as its lovingly referred to now, made its debut on April 6, 2014, courtesy of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (Amendment and Consequential Provisions) (England) Order 2014, conveniently abbreviated as GPDO and initially labeled as 'Class MB.' A nomenclatural alteration occurred in the subsequent Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 2015, enforced in April 2015, when it assumed the moniker 'Class Q.'
This classification, under certain conditions and constraints, permits the transformation of agricultural structures into habitable dwellings.
As several of our clients can testify you too can embark on a transformative journey, turning your barn into a contemporary and sustainable home…. when adhering to the stipulated limitations and requirements. This provision offers a streamlined process ( in 56 days normally) for obtaining consent from the local planning authority, outlining the path to realising your vision for a charming and functional living space. Whether it's the rustic appeal or the potential for spacious, unique designs, Class Q provides a pathway for repurposing agricultural buildings into personalised dream homes, blending the rural charm of barn architecture with the comforts of modern living.
